Our October 10th, 2019 meeting was presented by Siobhan Burland Ross.  Her audio/visual presentation was themed, “Jane Austen: Sequels and Retellings”.  As one member remarked, undertaking research on any Jane Austen-related subject is like falling down a rabbit hole – there are so many twists and turns you can take.  Her presentation was so rich in information that there must have been a herd of rabbits digging research holes for her.  Consider only the current musical adaptations that are on stage.  Siobhan points out you could take a tour of the United States alone by attending the following performances:

-Herndon, Virginia: Pride & Prejudice in October

-Minneapolis, Minnesota: The Wickhams: Christmas at Pemberley in November/December

-Modesto, California: Opera Modesto is staging an operatic version of Mansfield Park in January

-Santa Barbara, California: musical adaptation of Emma in February

Adaptations Tour –Jul/Aug issue #100 of Jane Austen’s Regency World, p.13

A second link will take you to a charming original story written by Siobhan Burland Ross.  It is described by the author as a ‘mash-up’ combining characters from a variety of Jane Austen novels into an entirely new story.
