May I Come as a Guest?
Before joining JASNA Manitoba: Winnipeg Region, we would love to have you as a guest to one of our meetings. To do so send us an e-mail at jaswpg@gmail.com so we can be prepared to welcome you. At our regular meetings we provide some refreshments and we ask you to pay $10 per guest visit to help cover the cost of room and equipment rental plus catering.

Will I be Required to Speak at the Meeting?
When first you attend a meeting we would like you to introduce yourself and tell us a little bit about your interest in Jane Austen. However the level of individual participation is left to each member. There are many opportunities for members to participate whether to offer suggestions for future programs, contributions to the website, discussion about novels or characters within the novels or to share knowledge you may have about the historical period.
What If I Haven't Read Many of Jane Austen's Works?
At the JASNA Manitoba: Winnipeg Region we're all about learning and sharing. It is through the cummulative reading experiences along with the collective insights that we build our group enjoyment. If you've only read one Jane Austen novel or if you've only seen one movie interpretation of a Jane Austen novel and you loved it, you are well qualified to join the group.
Are Jane Austen's Works of Interest to Men?
There are many men around the world who appreciate the works of Jane Austen. The settings of the stories, the vividness of the character descriptions, the irony and sarcastic wit that abound are all elements of good story telling. Moreover the precision of the language gives an almost three dimensional picture of the era that should not be overlooked regardless of gender. For a male point of view you should read "Pride and Prejudice: The Classic Jane Austen Novel is Not Just for Girls" .
